[Dear Politicians]

Dear Politicians

The term “conservative,” “centrist,” “innovative,” etc., is often used to distinguish politicians according to their views. The terms “right” and “left,” “doves” and “hawks” are similarly used for such sorting. Although each of these words is sometimes used by itself, I have the impression that they are more often used in a crossover manner, for example, “That legislator is centrist but a bit right-leaning and hawkish.
Another word often used when sorting is “liberal. I looked up the meaning of the word in the dictionary and found that it means “to be free from social rules and customs. I simply thought of myself as a liberal. At the same time, how can we create the future of Japan without a liberal mindset when it comes to politicians? My head was filled with ? marks.
I simply wondered what kind of job we can do if we are bound by the existing rules of politics while dealing with a myriad of problems that are too numerous to enumerate. If the Diet members are only trying to protect the rights of those who have vested interests, I can hardly entrust the future of my beloved Japan to such people. I believe that one of the first major responsibilities of those who receive their salaries from the taxpayers is to persuade the relevant industry associations to promote deregulation and reform.

I am also aware that there are things that must be protected. I am not suggesting that everything should be destroyed. However, as the times change rapidly, I believe that we must have free thinking and consider from various angles what should be preserved and what should not. Isn’t that right? At the very least, it is not good enough for politics to be conducted for the benefit of a few people.
It is an interesting phenomenon that many of those who seek to “revise” the existing Constitution are conservatives, while many of those who seek to protect the Constitution are liberals. I myself am a Constitutionalist when it comes to Article 9.

A famous Japanese economist once said on TV program that the government’s strategy is to buy up cell phone base stations, install 5G antennas, and lease the infrastructure to the private sector. If this were to be implemented, he said, it could lead to the creation of many new businesses. However, existing cellular carriers are likely to block this plan.
Also, the existing cab companies would not allow the Uber cab system, in which regular drivers transport customers for a fee, and there is a strange idea to provide the general public with ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) held by the Bank of Japan instead of benefits such as Corona, but there are many objections to this idea, and it is difficult to realize. It sounded like it might be worth trying when I heard about it. ……

What I want to say today is that I want everyone to think about the future of Japan with free ideas. I think there are many different ways of thinking and positions that are acceptable. No one knows the right answer.
However, for politicians, it is not good for their business if they do not get votes from the electorate, and they may have to go in a direction different from their own will for that reason. But I don’t think that’s enough anymore. The reality is harsh, but I hope that there will be more independent politicians who can firmly assert their own thoughts and opinions without being influenced by anyone else.

 Japan is in trouble!
