[Outlet for Anger]

Outlet for Anger

I am really not very good at getting hit. When I am in a debate or other situation where my opponent is aggressively disagreeing with me, I get intimidated. It may not look like I’m intimidated, but inside I am often quite pushed.
That is, even when I am clearly confident in my own logic about the content of the debate, I get frightened. In other words, regardless of whose opinion is correct or not, I am outmatched simply by being put in a situation where I am attacked in an aggressive posture. You could say that I am weak in a pinch. When I am vigorously argued into a corner, I close my mouth.

There are people who insist in a surprisingly forceful manner on ideas that I can’t help but think are absurdly logical to me. There are people who think their own ideas are all that matter, and they never listen to the opinions of others. I hate such people. If I could, I would like to live my life at a distance from such people.
However, I am sure that I have probably behaved in such a way without realizing it. No one can be perfect all the time. Perhaps it is because I want to show off my existence, but I sometimes push my point of view as if I am attacking those who are weak. I really need to be careful not to open up and say, “Well, I’m not perfect.” Although I want to live passionately, I sincerely wish to be a person who always has the ability to look at myself dispassionately.

Whenever I think about something, I always need to take a neutral and equal view of events based on facts and without preconceptions. As someone who has been educated and lived in Japan, I am not sure how far I can go in this regard, but I believe that if I do not first try, I will never be able to develop a persuasive logic. I firmly disagree with the approach that “even if you are not persuasive, you can push your way through by force.
I am good at quibbling, and when it comes to disputes, I am not often pushed around that much. I have a certain amount of confidence in my way of thinking. I often continue to argue with my opponents, murmuring, “I think I have the more sane way of thinking,” and so on. But I don’t want to attack them, so I argue with them in a gentlemanly manner. However, the other party, who is on fire, attacks me with what seems to be a tirade of opinions, without regard to my calm attitude. In such a situation, no matter how strongly confident I am in my opinion, the fact that I was attacked and the aftermath of that attack remain in my mind, and I feel very depressed.

I don’t think that the people who repeat such assertions, which to me seem outrageous, have any grievance against me personally and take such an aggressive attitude. I feel that they have hatred and anger toward society and government, apparently, not directly against the person with whom they are arguing. They may not be aware of it, but I get the sense that they are taking out their frustration and hostility toward human society, which they have no outlet for, on me, the “enemy” in front of them. I always feel as if this is something common to all such people.
In other words, for me, it is as if “they are needlessly hurting my feelings in order to relieve their own anger toward society,” and I feel as if I am forced to take a pity role in this situation. But I wonder, if my hurting them a little makes them feel better, maybe it makes sense. Is this feeling wrong? But to be honest, I am not so sure how long I can endure such a situation. I don’t think I would last that long.

They don’t listen to me at all, do they?
