行き先不明[one’s whereabouts being unknown]

one’s whereabouts being unknown

When you are stuck for ideas, it is said that “walking” is a good idea. Simply walking does not require much brain activity to perform the action of walking, and yet it is said to increase information processing activity. Even if you remind your brain to “work,” it often doesn’t work unless you are “not tired” and other conditions are met, but if you can activate it by walking, there is no reason not to use it. Instead of spending time suffering and doing nothing at the monitor, it may be more beneficial to go out for some fresh air, even if it takes a little time. It’s hard to change your mood with your guts.

When you want to look up a word you don’t know or don’t know the meaning of, you want to pull out a dictionary first, if possible. However, if I look up a word on the Internet, I tend to go that way because it is easier and quicker. However, when I look up a word in the dictionary, there is always an opportunity to learn something new sitting right next to the word I want to look up.
If I get distracted by a word that catches my eye while I am flipping through the pages, I forget what I was looking up, and my interest is drawn to that word. I think the word “distracted” means that it must have been “stuck” somewhere in my subconscious. It is truly a “fateful encounter” with a new word, and I think this is what we can call “real learning. I don’t have time to look up a dictionary slowly, so I always seek the result immediately, but I really want to have that little bit of leeway.

When I am writing a blog, I usually start writing after I have a rough plan, saying, “This is how I will write up today. Then, as I write, sometimes the context of the text begins to wander, as if it has a will of its own. There are even days when I, the writer, come to a new conclusion or way of thinking, thinking, “Oh, that’s what I mean. At those times, I no longer feel like I am writing. I am just moving my fingers and someone else is definitely writing for me. More and more sentences come down to me. It is truly a strange feeling when a sentence lands in a place that is far removed from, if not unrelated to, my own thoughts.

It may have started with my own will, but before I know it, the action I initiated to achieve my goal has left my hands, and its landing place drifts away as if guided by someone else’s will. When this happens repeatedly, I feel that the scope of my power is truly limited. I feel that I have finally begun to realize this recently. I think I have been trying too hard to control everything perfectly.
But if I had not started, nothing would have happened, and because I tried so hard to control things, I began to realize my limitations. Maybe it was a necessary process. I am not saying that I have realized anything by this. I don’t want you to take it that way. Rather, it is a progress report, so to speak. Things do not always unfold as I intended. And I will accept that fact honestly. That is how I think now, and I am fine with that. The trial and error continues.

It’s really different when you walk a little bit.
