私の中には女性を蔑視するような気持ちが、もしかしたら深層心理の部分であるのかもしれない。私としては無いつもりでいるし、また誰かにそう指摘されたこともない。でも私にそのつもりがなくても、自然と女性を差別するような言動や態度を取ってしまっている疑念は否定できないと思っている。やはり社会ではまだまだ女性の地位みたいなものは充分に向上していない。男尊女卑と言うと少々言い過ぎのように感じるが、そういう差別社会の中で育ち生きてきた私には、女性を下に見るような、何らかの良くない影響が及んでいると思う。

　日本政府は2030年までにプライム市場の上場企業における女性の役員比率を30％にまで上げる目標を立てたそうだ。ちなみに昨年は11.4％で、日本は先進国の中では一番低い水準との事。政府の焦りも分からないではない。
　しかし私は、実は随分前から変だなと思っていたことがある。それは男性と女性を分けて考えること。確かに腕力などの身体的な強さは男性が女性を上まわっている場合がほとんどだと思うが、そのことが社会的な地位や役職に就こうとする時にどう関係するのだろう。最近では女性が強くなってきて、ナメていると私がやられてしまう可能性だってある。つまり身体的な特徴を理由に女性を社会の中で侮辱するのはナンセンスと言わざるをえない。それなのにこれだけ女性が蔑まれているという現実は、私が思うに、今までがそうだったからという習慣でしかないのだと思う。

　性別を何かを判断するときの材料にすること自体がやはりおかしいのだと思う。誰が役員に出世するかは実力で判断されるべきであって、男女比率を五分五分にするために能力がない人が登用されるべきではないと思う。女性側から考えても、女性であることが理由で要職に登用されるようなことがあれば、それは逆差別になるのではないか。女性をバカにしていると思う。

　社会は男性の論理で動いているということなのだろう。これからもっと多くの女性の社会的地位が上がっていく流れだとは思うが、男性がそれを受け入れるかどうかが結局はカギを握っているような気がする。形勢が逆転する土壇場になって男性側が翻意するようなことにならなければいいのだが。男性だからとか女性だからとか、或いはLGBTだとか、そういう論点が無くなる日がくればいいと思う。

　一人の人間としてどうか、ということだと思うんだよね～

Accept the Differences

　Maybe there is some deep down part of me that has a disdain for women. I don’t think I have it, and no one has ever pointed it out to me. However, even if I do not intend to do so, I cannot deny the suspicion that I have naturally behaved in a way that discriminates against women. After all, the status of women in society has not yet improved sufficiently. I feel that it is a bit of an exaggeration to call them “male-dominated,” but having grown up and lived in such a discriminatory society, I believe that I have been influenced in some unfavorable way to look down on women.

　The Japanese government has set a goal of increasing the percentage of female executives in prime market listed companies to 30% by 2030. Last year, by the way, the figure was 11.4%, which is the lowest level among developed countries in Japan. It is not hard to understand the government’s impatience.
　However, there is something that I have thought strange for quite some time. That is the division of men and women. It is true that in most cases, men outperform women in terms of physical strength such as arm strength, but what does that have to do with social status or when trying to get a position in society? Women are getting stronger these days, and there is even a possibility that I could be beaten if I am not taken seriously. In other words, it is nonsense to insult women in society because of their physical characteristics. And yet the reality that women are so despised is, in my opinion, only a habit because that is the way it has always been.

　I think it is wrong to use gender as a factor in making judgments. Who gets promoted to the board of directors should be judged on the basis of merit, and people without ability should not be promoted in order to make the ratio of men to women 50/50. From the women’s point of view, if a woman is promoted to a key position because she is a woman, it would be a form of reverse discrimination. I think it is making fun of women.

　It may mean that society is driven by men’s logic. I believe that more and more women will rise in social status in the future, but whether or not men will accept this trend is the key in the end. I hope it will not be a last-minute reversal of fortune that causes the male side to change their minds. I hope the day will come when there will be no more arguments about being male, female, or LGBT.

　I think it’s about how you are as a human being.
